The number of business creations in France exceeded 100,000 in August, as in July, according to the corrected figures published Thursday, the first since the beginning of the statistical series in 2000, according to Insee.
102,961 companies were created in August, in expressed data corrected by seasonal variations and business days, the National Statistics Institute announced. The number of creations in July, initially announced at 99,632, also crossed the threshold of 100,000, to reach 100,330 new businesses. Creations increased by 2.6% in August compared to July, after an increase of 0.8% in July (0.1 points reviewed).
Creations transported by microenterprises
This dynamism, explains Inee, is mainly taken by micro-entrepreneur records, in strong acceleration during the month ( +3.6% to 68,464 after +1.4% in July), and by the creations of companies ( +1.9% to 25,707 after +0.2%). On the other hand, the conventional unique property continues its withdrawal (-2.6% to 8,789 after -2.1%).
In the last twelve months (September 2024 to August 2025) and in gross data, the total number of created companies increased by 0.6% compared to the previous twelve months, with an increase of 1.9% for micro-entrepreneurs and 1.8% for companies, but a 10.8% decrease for conventional individual companies.
In the first eight months of 2025, 757,593 companies were created, including 489,739 microenterprises, 198,091 companies and 69,763 individual classic companies.
By sector, creations are growing much more than a month in commercial support activities (+4.5%), domestic services (+4.1%) and industry (+5.7%). Commerce, including automotive reparation, remains dynamic (+2.6%). On the contrary, financial and insurance activities (-2.3%) and education, health and social action (-5.1%) are withdrawing.
