“What a fuss!”: Bruno Le Maire comes out of his silence and shoots red balls in the solution that “cuts” reindustrialization and disappointment

The former Minister of the Economy, now ASML special advisor, speaks for the first time since his departure from Bercy last year. He believes that France has been on the wrong slope since the dissolution of the National Assembly.

“Let’s not go back!”: This is the call released by Bruno Le Maire in his first interview since he left political life, granted to the new factory. The former Minister of the Economy, who then tried to teach in Switzerland, has written a very negative evaluation of the actions carried out since the dissolution of the National Assembly (and his departure from Bercy).

“The fall in production taxes has been arrested, the simplification law is at a dead point, political uncertainties undermine investors’ confidence,” LE MAIRE laments.

Now, a special advisor to the company ASML, a Dutch manufacturer of semiconductor production machines, Bruno Le Maire recognizes, however, that his evaluation remains “modest” on the issue of reindustrialization.

“In seven years, we have obtained modest but real results, with 650 open factories, a new sector in electric batteries, one in gestation with green hydrogen, the rebirth of engineering training, the rebirth of nuclear …”

The “deep injury” of the former minister

Bruno Le Maire also says he regrets not having absorbed France’s debt. “Of course, it is a failure to have not been able to carry out the restoration of our public finances. This remains a deep injury to me.”

But he judges that he was on the right path, until the solution comes to stop its ambitions. “At the beginning of 2024, we had begun to make all the necessary decisions to restore public accounts. We had decided 30 billion euros in the savings in six months, more than the risk of being planned for the entire 2026 budget runs.”

Questioned by the new factory about its position on Zucman’s tax, named for the economist Gabriel Zucman, who proposes to tax the richest (more than 100 million euros in the heritage), Bruno Le Maire estimates that this is equivalent to asking bad questions. “

“Before thinking about redistributing, let’s think about creating wealth. How to become a great production nation again?

Called to resist Donald Trump

Finally, he asks Europe not to face the United States and China. Against Trump’s customs tasks, ask Europe to use its anti-coercion tool.

And in front of Chinese products that are spilling in the European market due to lack of accessing the US market, Bruno Le Maire wants protection of EU industries. “Or we can restore a balance of power and put barriers at the entrance, or we will continue to be a continent of consumers in the hands of American and Chinese giants,” he concludes.
