Who does not pay enough taxes? This is the question that was asked for part of the French, and the answer is quite clear: almost 8 out of 10 French people believe that billionaires do not pay enough.
According to a “live opinion” survey, Elabe Institute for BFMTV and published on Thursday, September 25, 79% of the French believe that “French billionaires do not pay enough taxes, taxes and subscriptions.” In addition, 16% of respondents consider them that billionaires pay only the amount it takes and 5% say they pay too much.
The observation is significantly the same if we pass by the big companies. In total, 59% of the French believe they do not pay enough taxes. On the contrary, 63% of the French believe that the middle classes and small businesses pay too much. This particular opinion is pronounced among RN voters who share this opinion to 74%.
54% of the French think that retirees pay too many taxes
On the retirees side, the debate is divisive. The French think that 54% of them pay too many taxes. But the opinion remains divided on the side of the voters. If those who vote RN think that retirees pay too much (66%), only 34% of those in general and 41% of those of the PFN think so.
For the most modest homes, only 43% of the French estimate that these homes pay too many taxes, taxes and contributions. And 40% think they only pay the amount you need, no more or less.
In all this opinion, Zucman’s tax is also one of the sensitive issues of the French economy. And for a good reason: the French economist Gabriel Zucman proposed for households whose inheritance exceeds 100 million euros (or 1,800 households in France) the implementation of a 2% tax of the value of his inheritance.
74% of the French are favorable to Zucman’s tax
A proposal that has seduced 3 French of 4. Specifically, 74% of the French say they are favorable to this tax. Among them, 39% are “very favorable” there and 35% are “quite favorable.” On the contrary, 25% of the French say they oppose the tax of the French economist. 10% of them say they are “very opposite”, against 15% more measured who want to be “quite opposite.”
If all electorates are mainly approved by Zucman, the Republicans, on the other hand, are very shared by these proposals (50% and 50% against).
In general, Emmanuel Macron’s fiscal policy is also criticized by the French, since 69% believe that the President of the Republic has provided too much public help to large companies, an opinion mainly shared in all electorates. 60% judge that the Head of State has fallen too much the taxes of richer foci.
