The Turkish National Company Turkish Airlines announced on Friday the company’s order of 225 American Boeing aircraft, the day after a reception, the first since 2019, of the Turkish president in the White House. This closed order covers 150 deliverable devices between 2029 and 2034 and 75 optional, the company said in a press release without specifying the amount of this transaction.
In addition, “the negotiations are underway with Rolls-Royce and GE Aerospace to acquire engines mounted on wings, replacement engines and motor maintenance services” for the B-787, specifies. “With these orders, we want our entire fleet to be composed of new generation aircraft by 2035, which reinforces our operational efficiency and reaches an average annual growth rate of 6 %,” adds the company.
355 Airbus ordered in 2023
The rumor of this order had leaked in the Turkish press since Sunday, before the presidents meeting received Tayyip Erdogan and Donald Trump in the White House. This reception of the Turkish president for more than two hours on Thursday for his American counterpart was the first since 2019. Recep Tayyip Erdogan had been rejected by the White House during the mandate of Democratic President Joe Biden.
Turkish Airlines announced in December 2023 the order of 355 Airbus, the main competitor of Boeing.
