Plaued for delays in the delivery of Boeing, Ryanair ready to go to Airbus massively

The first European airline has never bought devices from the European aircraft manufacturer, except its Lauda subsidiary.

As we know, the inexhaustible thirst of airlines for new aircraft is hindered by production problems in the sector. Especially in Boeing, which is also caught in delays in the certification of some of its new models.

This is the case of 737 Max 10, the largest model of the 737 family. The giant Ryanair thus ordered no less than 150 units. However, delays accumulate, Boeing indicates that their certification should be effective for the third quarter next with the first installment in the spring of 2027.

Michael O’Leary, the very moving chief of the company, who often complained about the delays of the manufacturer of airplanes, says he trusts compared to this calendar: “They wrote to confirm that they plan to deliver these maximums 10 in the spring of 2027 … We do not believe that there will be a delay for our first installment,” he said at a press conference, according to Reuters.

Around 200 Airbus for Ryanair?

However, the scalded cat fears cold water. By saying “optimistic but not sure” in front of the American industry, the CEO of Ryanair now seems to want to abandon its 100% Boeing tropism. The low -cost company has never requested airbus airplanes, with the exception of its small lauda subsidiary that operates rented devices. This situation could change.

Therefore, significant orders could intervene at the end of 2020 or early 2030, especially because its current aircraft rental contracts expire in 2028.

In August 2024, he said: “The Boeing delivery delays Ryanair’s committed growth.”

According to a report by the IATA International Association, companies lack new airplanes from the end of the Covid crisis.

“If the deliveries had continued at the rate before the pandemic, the world fleet would have been considerably greater today. According to historical delivery trends (average growth rate in 2010-2018), the industry would have anticipated the launch of around 16,004 new aircraft between 2019 and 2026.
