The “countdown” is activated with respect to the 2026 Budget Project, which must be presented in Parliament for mid -October, warned that the first president of the Court of Auditors on Friday, September 26, Pierre Moscovici.
“We can still have a very small delay to decide,” but “in almost 17 days, there must be a PLF that is deposited before Parliament,” he added. “This can also be a project that is not completely completed, a project that may be subject to discussion, which can then be modified,” he said.
“Not later than October 13”
Pierre Moscovici also presides over the High Council of Public Finance (HCFP), an independent agency located in the Court of Auditors already charge, such as the State Council, to examine the Finance Law (PLF) bill before its presentation before the Council of Ministers and the National Assembly.
According to the website of the Government dedicated to the budget, the PLF 2026 must be presented to the Council of Ministers “before the first Tuesday of October”, that is, on 7, and deposited in the National Assembly “no later than October 13” so that Parliament has the 70 days scheduled by the Constitution to discuss it.
As for Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu, even without the government more than two weeks after his appointment and very discreet about his consultations to build a budget for commitment, “he is prudent, weighted, worker, he is someone who knows his archives, who never advances randomly and, therefore, knows what he is doing,” said Pierre Moscowi.
