The number of job seekers falls 1% in October

In October there were 3,098 million category A unemployed, 30,500 fewer than in September. When including the reduced activity B and C, the number of job seekers only decreased by 0.2%.

The number of job seekers registered in category A (without activity) fell by 1% in October compared to September, with 30,500 fewer unemployed up to 3,092 million, according to figures from the Ministry of Labor published this Friday.

Including the reduced activity (categories B and C), the number of job seekers in France (excluding Mayotte) only decreased by 0.2% (-10,800) and stood at 5,413 million, according to the statistics service of the Ministry of Labor (Give) . Over a year, the drop in category A is 9.6%. For categories A, B and C it is 6.7%.

Stable unemployment in the third quarter

Dares does not comment on the monthly data, which is too volatile and favors quarterly changes. The latest quarterly results published at the end of October show stability in the third quarter compared to the second, at 3,164 million subscribers (-1,700).

Stability was identical, including reduced activity (Pôle Emploi categories B and C) at 5.436 million (-1000 people).
