If the Ratp has lost dozens of bus lines in the Paris region as part of the opening of the competition and the tenders that followed, in Intramuros Paris and in the small crown, it should maintain its historical monopoly.
With its subsidiary Cap Ile-de-France, the MATP “is expected to exploit the last two lots that serve the commune of Paris and the neighboring municipalities,” he announced in a press release of IDFM (Ile-de-France Mobilités), the organizing authority for Ile-De-France public transport.
It was the last wave of bus lines involved, in two lots that represent 67 lines and more than 5,000 agents, for an annual turnover of around 460 million euros.
The awards in question, 48, or “left edge”, and 49, or “right bank”, have some of the busiest lines in the capital of intramuros.
“The candidate will be offered to the vote of the Board of Directors of Mobilités Ile-de-France during his meeting on October 17,” according to the press release. This vote is a formality.
15,000 bus drivers
In total, the Ratp must maintain 70% of the bus lines, as well as 75% of its agents in Paris and in a small crown, IDFM announced Wednesday.
For the group of the communist, environmentalist and citizen left in the Ile-de-France Regional Council, “the privatization of the exploitation of Ratp bus lines is experiencing a decisive step.” “The process of fragmenting the Ratp bus network ends,” laments the group on Wednesday in a press release.
Remember that, as on the train, this opening to the competition is “required by European and national regulations,” IDFM recalled. Around 19,000 employees are affected, including 15,000 bus drivers.
The Ratp had previously won 60% of all lots. For the third allocation wave in June, he had maintained three quarters of the lines involved on this occasion, or around 530 million euros in annual billing.
Since the opening of the competition in 2021, 36 lots have already been granted in the large crown, as well as 12 in Paris and a small crown.
The lots that the Ratp did not abandon were won by Keolis, Transdev and the Italian ATM. The first lines assigned to private operators will change on November 1 in the fold of new businesses.
