The current CEO of the Ariane group, Martin Sion, “will not seek renewal of his mandate” and will lead the railway manufacturer Alstom from April 1, replacing Henri Poupart-Lafarge, the two groups announced in separate press releases.
Alstom indicated that its board of directors had “elected Mr. Martin Sion as the new group CEO, effective April 1, 2026.”
“Smooth transition”
“We believe that Mr. Martin Sion has the necessary experience to lead Alstom. We look forward to welcoming him in April 2026. Until then, Mr. Henri Poupart-Lafarge will continue in his role, thus ensuring a smooth transition,” said Philippe Petitcolin, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Alstom, quoted in a press release from the French railway manufacturer.
Henri Poupart-Lafarge, CEO of Alstom since February 2016, announced in May that he would not seek a fourth term at the end of his current one, which will end in spring 2027.
ArianeGroup, for its part, indicated that “Martin Sion will not seek the renewal of his mandate as executive president,” but rather “will remain fully committed to his duties” until the end of his term in March 2026.
“The board of directors will appoint a successor in due course,” added the Franco-German company, created in 2015 and owned equally by Airbus and Safran.
