Air France will not provide services in Antananarivo, capital of Madagascar, until Monday inclusive, the airline has just announced this Sunday, October 12. Its flights from Paris are suspended, pending the evolution of the situation there, “due to the security situation.”
The resumption of operations “will be subject to a daily assessment of the situation on site,” the company said. For its part, the company Air Austral that operates between Reunion Island and Madagascar indicated that it had canceled a rotation on Saturday but that its flights were “maintained” for Sunday.
This morning, a military unit, CAPSAT (Army Administrative and Technical Services and Personnel Corps) explained that it had taken control of the army. The country is mired in protests against the government. The elected president, Andry Rajoelina, denounces an “illegal attempt to seize power.”
