The Public Investment Bank (Bpifrance) has just launched its new product dedicated to the financing of companies in the defense sector, aimed at individuals. “It has been a very good start, the first day was extraordinary,” said Nicolas Dufourcq, CEO of Bpifrance, on the set of BFM Business, this Wednesday, October 15.
This fund is accessible from 500 euros (up to 500,000 euros) and allows individuals to invest in a portfolio of more than 500 companies, “mainly unlisted”, French (70%) and European, in the defense sector and associated technologies. Your goal is a return of 5% per year.
Fund the defense effort
“You go to the Bpi website, enter your credit card, your identity document and invest in the French economy of your territory,” summarized Nicolas Dufourcq, recalling that the French defense sector is based on “4,000 very small family SMEs, with a small turnover, which need a lot of capital.”
The objective is to raise between 300 and 450 million euros in total, while Bpifrance estimates that the French defense sector needs financing of 15 billion euros between now and 2030 to meet rearmament objectives.
