Although inflation is not about to reverse, the pressure on the French will increase starting next January with the easing of the tariff shield on energy prices. For everyone, the gas and electricity bill will increase by 15%.
If the government has been pleading for months about specific devices, some wonder. Why not exclude the most modest households from this increase? Why this lack of focus?
Make those who consume the most pay?
Indeed, the Constitution enshrines the principle of equality before the law. In other words, all citizens must be treated equally by law and therefore no individual or group of individuals should have privileges guaranteed by law.
Another clue, “a ceiling in terms of level of consumption” from which the price increase begins and which, therefore, would be directed at those who consume the most. “It is one of the issues on which we can reflect and work in the future”, indicates the minister.
Even so, in the meantime, the easiest support measure to implement is the energy check that will be sent in a few days to 12 million households according to their income. Payments will be between 100 and 200 euros.
Gabriel Attal also recalls that without the government measures, “the increase in bills would be 120% for the French if we were not there.”
