High-speed train traffic between Lyon and Avignon has been seriously disrupted since 6 a.m. this Monday, October 27, following an act of vandalism. Many connections to the south-east have been canceled and significant delays to Paris are expected.
It is a “fire in the signaling cables” that is at the origin of these disturbances, the SNCF states on its website, referring to “an act of vandalism”, while its teams are still “establishing a precise diagnosis of the damage”.
“Some trains run on another route that uses the classic line with an estimated loss of time of more than approximately 2h30. Currently, this route is blocked by the presence of a damaged train. Train cancellations are expected,” adds the SNCF, which specifies that a return to normality is “expected” on Tuesday.
A return to normal is expected Tuesday morning
The SNCF invites travelers to postpone their journey if possible and to carefully check the movement of their train before heading to the station.
At around 8am, on the SNCF website, all TGVs leaving Paris and passing through Lyon were cancelled, at least until 11am.
In the opposite direction, trains leaving southeast France for Paris, Lyon or Strasbourg arrive with a delay of up to 3 hours.
