The AutonomY Agency: promoting good aging at home

Launched in 2021, the AutonomY Agency works to preserve and enhance the autonomy of the elderly, while supporting caregivers and professionals in the sector, in particular through the implementation of innovative solutions. The agency is at the origin of the E-Tonomy BOOST program, which aims to support project leaders and finance experiments to improve products and services for people with loss of autonomy.

Born from the joint initiative of the Yvelines and Hauts-de-Seine departments, the AutonomY Agency is the first structure entirely dedicated to autonomy in France. In a context of population ageing, the agency is providing real solutions to face the demographic challenge that lies ahead.

“We have a wide field of action to support the life course of the elderly. The aim is to make concrete improvements for the people cared for and their caregivers, but also to make jobs related to supporting the elderly attractive. Today we support 140 personal service establishments in their development in the areas of quality of services, digital transformation, organization and development of skills”, agrees Patricia Waddington, director of innovation projects at the agency.

A mission that revolves around three great poles

To face this important challenge and meet all its objectives, the AutonomY Agency has set up three large centers around the offer of services to users and professionals, innovation and training in management professions.

“Innovation is an integral part of our approach, we identify, experiment and deploy innovative solutions aimed at improving information and prevention, strengthening the attractiveness of professions, enabling greater safety and comfort for the elderly. For example, we have configured an electronic box for caregivers, allowing to control the effectiveness of the aid plan granted to the elderly We are working to provide new services in this box: implementation of a digital link book for more fluid communication between the different agents, with the possibility of maintain traceabilityand, eventually, the possibility of adding additional services such as remote assistance, actimetry, etc.

E-Tonomy BOOST, the start-up acceleration program

In order to continue developing alternative solutions, the AutonomY Agency has chosen to support new innovative projects through its E-Tonomy BOOST programme. This is a six-month support program for start-ups, structured around major strategic axes such as knowledge of the sector, business model, marketing or even commercial strategy.

“Our objective is to give real support to these different structures in everything related to knowledge of the sector and its economic models, carrying out experiments in our territories and access to and search for financing. The objective is to be able to select services that strengthen our actions and the Agency’s service offer”concludes the manager.

Launched in 2019, this initiative will honor its third promotion this year. Applications to be part of the twelve selected start-ups are open until December 31, 2022.

Although the number of older adults should increase by more than 30% in the next ten years, it becomes important to find alternatives to improve the care and quality of life of older adults; while most of them now want to stay at home. Every year, 12 projects are supported by the agency with the aim of improving the conditions of the elderly in terms of food, social ties or mobility. Faced with this great challenge, the AutonomY Agency is providing real solutions for the future to face this demographic challenge.
