This figure, which does not include restricted expenses (rent, water, electricity, food) comes from the 3rd edition of the barometer Retraite.com/Silver Alliance, produced with the Ministry of Solidarity, Autonomy and Disability for Le Parisian.
It is based on the evolution of the prices of 25 products and services such as mutuals, home help, food at home, transportation costs, the purchase of adapted wheelchairs or the products necessary for dependency. This average was calculated for 9 profiles, with three age categories (65/75, 75/85 and over 85) and three levels of retirement (Low “ASPA” with 953 euros, Medium with 1,503 euros and High of 3,140 euros at month to month). Full rate).
Increase in products and services.
In one year, this average cost has increased by 6.83%. In 2022, this monthly cost was 646 euros per month for 65-75 years (583 euros in 2021), that is, + 10.83% compared to 2021, 827 euros for 75-85 years (748 euros in 2021), that is that is + 10.5% compared to 2021 and 2020 euros for people over 85 years of age (compared to 1,939 euros in 2021), that is + 4% compared to 2021.
The main services that are down or stable compared to 2021 are hearing, subscriptions (telephony, video surveillance), membership in clubs and associations or night care at home. The main increases are the premiums of mutuals, transport, household services (day help, cleaning, gardening) or the delivery of meals at home.
15 million pensioners
Depending on the age, the needs evolve in different ways. The barometer specifies for each profile the changes and the level of increase for each position.
“Between 65 and 75 years of age, the costs of transport (+24%) and healthcare (+5.11%) continue to be the main expenditure items and are experiencing a strong increase”, explain the authors of the study. They point out that this still highly mobile age group is suffering from rising prices at the pump. The cost of household services also increased (+9.57%), which represents its third item of spending.
“Between 75 and 85 years, health continues to be the first item of spending, with mutual rates on the rise.” Travel is reduced, but they need help with daily tasks. Therefore, the costs of providing home services (cleaning, meal delivery, etc.) are higher.
“From the age of 85, dependency and access to supportive care (home services, night care) become the main item of expenditure. The prices of certain services remain stable. This is the case of hearing aids, video surveillance and telephone subscriptions, as well as the distribution of the bathroom”, the authors indicate.
France has almost 15 million retirees and more than 85% of them want to grow old at home.
