Air transport prices are accelerating again. After decelerating in September (+20.4% in one year, compared to +36.3% in August), the prices of plane tickets departing from France increased by 26.3% in October compared to the same period of the year past, according to data from the General Directorate of Civil Aeronautics (DGAC).
On the national network, the price increase reached 21.8% at the exit from metropolitan France, with a clear difference between connections within metropolitan France (+15%) and those connecting France with overseas territories (+31 ,5%).
+26.7% in the international network
The increase in ticket prices on the international network stood at +26.7% in October. But this increase is “strongly driven by the international medium distance network, for which the registered increase is 25.7%”, specifies the DGAC.
For its part, the international long-haul network registered an increase of 20.8%. The DGAC, however, points to “strong disparities” with price increases “of lesser extent towards Sub-Saharan Africa or North America, compared to those observed for flights to Asia/Pacific, ‘Latin America and the Middle East’.
Finally, note that while prices for all flights departing from mainland France increased by 25.8% in October, the increase is much steeper for flights departing from abroad (+32.4%) and, in particular, from Guadeloupe (+37.2%).
