RTE rules out risk of cuts before the end of the year

Invited to BFMTV’s special evening dedicated to power cuts, the executive director of RTE indicated that the risk of load cuts is nil before the end of the year and called not to panic for the start of the next one.

Load shedding should not occur in the near future. This was stated by the executive director of RTE on the set of BFMTV during an evening dedicated to the energy crisis.

“We are making a number of scenarios that are assumptions that we are working on,” he added.

The question begins to arise since an orange Ecowatt signal is likely to be activated this Friday for Monday. This is a prolonged drop in temperatures that is combined with an increase in consumption according to the forecasts of the manager of the electricity transmission network, which forecasts 80,000 MW for this day.

It would then be Ecowatt’s first orange signal since April 4, but the French then managed to significantly reduce their consumption, in the order of 800 MW, between 6 am and noon to relieve the network. However, Jean-Paul Roubin reiterated that he does not foresee any cuts at this time.

The fall in consumption is good news

The drop in consumption also appears to be a long-term trend and is likely to encourage optimism in view of the heart of the winter period.

This decline is all the more encouraging as it seems to have growing support from all sectors of society. “At the beginning it was mainly thanks to the industries, but from last week’s analysis we realize that the residential and tertiary sectors have also taken measures to reduce consumption,” said the RTE representative.

During the last week, if we compare it with the reference of previous years, the residential and tertiary sectors have reduced their consumption by 7%.
