EDF customers, individuals, companies or tertiary sectors, consumed 10% less electricity in November compared to November 2021, the group said on Thursday.
These figures confirm the trend pointed out by the operator of the electrical network RTE, which sees the fall in national consumption “increase” with a decrease last week of 8.3% compared to the average of previous years in this same period (2014- 2019). , corrected for temperature differences from normal.
50 million letters
EDF first of all attributes these results to the efforts of users, to whom it indicates that it has sent some 50 million letters. To obtain a valid comparison, the electrician has also corrected his results for the observed temperature differences between November 2021 and 2022, a spokesman says.
Its “EDF and me” app, which allows customers to track their consumption, received 140 million connections from January to the end of October, double the number in the same period last year.
For the past two months, 60,000 customers have also joined its “Tempo” option, that is, about 7,000 per week (compared to an average of 100 new Tempo customers per week in the 1st half of 2022). With this subscription, these customers are encouraged by tariffs not to consume during the “red” period (limited to 22 days a year), thus “erasing” themselves at times of high voltage in the electrical network, which suffers the cut this winter of a large number of nuclear reactors for maintenance or repair.
