The tension is stronger than ever at the SNCF after three days of round tables of negotiation around the salaries of the 148,000 employees of the group (mandatory NAO) and the particular case of captains (controllers) and signalmen.
In fact, the threat of social movements persists at the end of the year at SNCF, since most of the proposals made by the management have been considered insufficient by the unions.
Railway workers: decision on Tuesday
Management proposals: globally, through the NAOs, the SNCF offered railway workers a wage increase of 5.9% on average in 2023.
The railway group has proposed a general increase of 2% for all accompanied by a “flat rate increase” of 600 euros gross per year, according to a union source.
With the increase in various bonuses (night work, Sundays, holidays) and the payment of 75% of the transport pass instead of the current 50%, management estimates that the salary increase is close to 6% on average.
The reaction of the unions: Questioned this Friday on BFMTV, Philippe Martínez, general secretary of the CGT, judges these proposals “to a great extent insufficient”, but explains that the base will be consulted.
A statement on the maintenance of the strike notice for the departures of the Christmas holidays “will be taken on Tuesday,” he announces.
Drivers: on the way
Management Suggestions: The management described the exchanges that took place on Thursday with the unions and a group of controllers as “positive and of a good level”.
It is more about recognizing the specificities of the profession (career development, professional trajectory or work organization, etc.), than about salary increases.
The reaction of unions and collectives: “We are really not far from an agreement” despite “some setbacks,” Nicolás Limón, one of the founders, told AFP of the collective behind a very crowded strike last weekend.
The unions have a week to give their opinion, as do the controllers who are members of the collective.
According to our information, notices have been presented: from Friday, December 23 to Monday, December 26, 8 am, and from Friday, December 30 to Monday, January 2, 2023, at 8 am
Questioned by BFM Business, Didier Mathis, general secretary of UNSA-Ferroviaire, explained to us that the activation of these notices “will depend on negotiations”.
Vigilantes: strike notice is maintained
Management Suggestions: a ten-minute “handover” at each service start: traffic officers, working in 3×8, must arrive or leave later at the time of the relay to pass the baton to the next team.
Another measure put on the table by SNCF Réseau: “a fixed monthly allowance of 60 euros (gross)” paid from June 2023 and which will be permanent to recognize the specificities of the profession.
The reaction of the unions: the proposals “border on contempt”, judge SUD Rail. “There is still time for the SNCF management to continue negotiating if it wants to avoid a major conflict,” the union insisted in a press release, asking traffic agents to continue “presenting en masse” their mandatory declarations of intention to go to the strike. .
SUD Rail therefore maintains its call for a strike from December 15 to 19.
The CGT-Cheminots for its part described the measures as “insufficient” and presented notices at the local level but does not call for a national movement.
The other organizations Unsa-Ferroviaire and CFDT-Cheminots are not calling for a strike.
