The renewal of the fleets of the main airlines in the world is taking place at great speed. Good news for the environment as these state-of-the-art aircraft emit less CO2 and are more energy efficient.
While the persistent rumors give Air India the intention to acquire no less than 500 planes, the American United Airlines has just confirmed a firm order for 100 Boeing planes and has an option for another 100.
$25-33 billion at list price
This contract refers to the US aircraft manufacturer’s 787 Dreamliner, that is, the largest order ever registered for this aircraft, while the options refer to the 737 MAX, in exercising 44 existing options and placing 56 new orders. That’s a total of $25 to $33 billion at the list price, which, remember, is never applied.
“United has emerged from the pandemic positioning itself as the world’s leading airline and the flagship of US airlines. This order further strengthens our leadership and creates new opportunities for our customers, employees and shareholders, accelerating our plan to transport more people to more cities around the world with the best inflight experience,” said Scott Kirby, CEO of the company.
What about the Airbuses? United recalls that it has ordered 45 A350-900s that will be delivered “at the earliest in 2030”, that is, three years late… Let’s remember that the European manufacturer has renounced its delivery target this year despite the acceleration of its production rate in relation to demand.
