Ten euros for a kettle, 25 euros for a washing machine or 45 euros for a television: now it is possible to benefit from a bonus for the repair of your electrical and electronic equipment. Provided by the anti-waste law, the “repair bond” comes into force this Thursday, December 15. This new device should encourage consumers to repair their appliances instead of replacing them when they break.
The amount of this “repair voucher” ranges from 10 to 45 euros depending on the type of device, or approximately 20% of the cost of the repair. To benefit from it, you must go to the site ecosystem.eco to locate authorized repair points. The rebate will be applied directly to your bill if you go to one of their locations to have your device repaired. Note: devices that benefit from a legal guarantee, commercial guarantee or insurance are excluded.
However, the release of the “repair bonus” is gradual: not all devices will be affected immediately. There are about thirty eligible categories today (washing machine, vacuum cleaner, mobile phone, drill, etc.), then the list will grow over the years until 2025. You will have to wait until 2024, for example, to have your fryer repaired or microwave. For the hair dryer, it will be 2025.
90% of breakdowns are not repaired
Currently, approximately 500 repairers have been approved (they benefit from the “QualiRépar” label). But this number should grow in the coming years: 1,500 repairers should be certified by 2023 and 10,000 by 2027. Among them are independent such as manufacturer and distributor after-sales services. The “QualiRépar” label is awarded for a period of three years after being granted by a certifying body.
A way to convince the French not to throw away their defective devices, when today 90% of faults are not repaired. Every year some ten million repairs are carried out in France: the goal is to increase this figure by at least 20% by 2027.
