The confrontation between the medical biology laboratories and the government continues. Strongly opposed to the savings prospects requested by the executive, the laboratories are now increasing their pressure.
“Given the deafness of public administrations about the risks that would mean a saving of 1,300 million euros for medical biology laboratories, the Alliance of Medical Biology (ABM) has decided to suspend, as of December 15 and until further notice, the transmission of biological data in My Health Space”, we can read in a press release.
“Medical biology unions are also announcing ‘a black January’, for a concrete demonstration of a health system that includes discounted biology,” the unions continue.
The sector denounces a new agreement that links it to health insurance “that does not answer any of our questions and does not include any of our proposals.”
“They can make an effort”
“Therefore, we indicated to the Health Insurance that we could not sign, as it is, this proposal that does not specify anything about our rates for the years 2024-2026, that does not answer our questions about the financing of our prevention missions. while the PLFSS 2023 will increase them and that it maintains a vagueness in the perimeter of financing innovation and COVID acts ”, continue the unions.
“The inflexible position of the authorities forces us to toughen the movement. The suspension of our participation in Mon Espace Santé is a new warning. If our unions have decided not to call a strike during the holiday period so as not to penalize the French, the The authorities can now prepare for a black January for biology”, warns Alain Le Meur, spokesman for the ABM.
Specifically, the laboratories oppose the savings provided by the Social Security budget with a price drop that affects all acts of medical analysis, and that would be maintained in the following years. “You can make an effort, I will not give up on this issue,” said the Minister of Public Accounts, Gabriel Attal, noting the “high profitability” of the sector, “it increased from 18% to 30%” thanks to the health crisis. .
“As a reminder, our profession is prepared to make an exceptional contribution of 250 million euros in 2023 and accept price reductions between 2024 and 2026 for a total amount of 685 million euros,” the unions explain.
“Our compromise proposal is responsible and realistic contrary to the Government’s project of a drainage of 1,300 million euros that would mean the closure of at least 400 local laboratories, the elimination of at least 10,000 qualified jobs and an additional overload of the emergency services ”, they continue.
In November, the laboratories went on strike, a movement followed en masse with 95% of the 4,200 medical analysis laboratories closed in France.
