Train traffic will be “slightly interrupted on certain lines” on Saturday, the day of large departures for the Christmas holidays, due to a social movement by SNCF Réseau changers, SNCF said Thursday at an Infotrafic point.
Twenty TGVs out of 650 will be eliminated. The impact will mainly affect the TGV Atlantique (almost 9 out of 10 trains operated, including two out of three on the Paris-South West links). In the rest of the high-speed lines, a “normal or almost normal service” will be provided.
“Almost normal” traffic on the Intercités network
On the Intercités side, traffic will be “almost normal”, but with the elimination of the Paris-Rodez-Albi night train. For the Transilien and the TER, certain lines and certain regions will be “susceptible to disturbances”, indicates the SNCF, adding that the transport plans will be detailed on Friday before 5:00 p.m.
In general, SNCF Voyageurs advises its customers to “check the train schedules before going to the station and, if possible, cancel your trips”. Traffic forecasts for Sunday are expected to be released on Friday.
SNCF signalmen operate the network: without them, the trains cannot run. With this strike called by Sud-Rail, they are asking for greater recognition of their profession and an improvement in their working conditions.
