“In the exercise of the undeniable duty of assisting them in defending the rights and interests of the workers they represent, the platform of trade unions ASCEF, ASSIFECO, SINFB, SINFA, FENTCOP, SINDEFER, STF and SIOFA” with representation in CP and IP – Infraestruturas de Portugal and its subsidiaries “announce that they have issued a strike notice in due course”.
This interruption lasts 24 hours before the 23rd and 26th of this month and also provides for a “strike for overtime, including holidays and weekly rest days, from 00:00 on 23/12 to 24:00 on 02 January 2023”.
“The strike is the last tool the workers use to make the company listen to the difficulties that affect them,” they stressed.
The unions demand the “granting of a financial premium to compensate for the loss of purchasing power recorded in the year 2022”, the “update of the food subsidy” and the “end of discrimination between workers”, the same note states.
The union structures also showed that “it was agreed upon at the meetings held at DGERT [Direção-Geral do Emprego e das Relações de Trabalho]with the companies CP and IP operating 25% of the trains to be operated on December 23 and 26 and for the holidays on December 25 and January 1, 2023”.
“It is not enough to have a minister overseeing the railway sector to communicate investments in the railways”, but “who forgets the most important asset of companies in the railway sector: human capital”, they concluded.
This platform includes ASCEF – Union Association of Intermediate Railway Operation Managers, ASSIFECO – Independent Union Association, FENTCOP – National Union of Transport, Communications and Public Works, SINDEFER – National Democratic Union of Railways, SINFA – Independent Union of Infrastructure and Related Railway Workers, SINFB – National Independent Union of Railway Workers, SIOFA – Independent Union of Operational and Related Workers and STF – Union of Railway Transport.
CP and IP employees staged a strike on November 30, which led to the cancellation of hundreds of trains.
