The current head of Radio France Sibyle Veil, in office since 2018, was re-elected on Monday as president of the public radio group for five years, media and digital regulator Arcom announced on Monday. “After listening to the candidates and following a secret vote, Arcom appointed Ms. Sibyle Veil as president of Radio France for five years from April 16, 2023,” the regulator who auditioned for the candidate writes in a press release. “New generations”
Before Arcom on Monday, Sibyle Veil defended a project entitled “New generations”. “Young people are carriers of the revolutions of use and of the cultural revolutions that end up being imposed. Which means that if we manage to win this battle, we will have managed to win all the others”, argued the leader, calling to “continue to build a strong audio pole within the public service”. At the end of June he stated in an interview with Le Figaro opposed the idea of a big merger in the public audiovisual sector and said he wanted to know about the state’s projects before running for a second term.
Coming from the same promotion at ENA as Emmanuel Macron, Sibyle Veil was an adviser to Nicolas Sarkozy at the Élysée, then director of transformation at AP-HP, before joining Radio France in 2015.
The public radio group that ranked record audience figures last year -15.4 million daily listeners on average- and has two of its stations, France Inter and franceinfo, among the three most listened to radio stations in the country.
