Electricity: EDF still targets between 300 and 330 TWh of nuclear production in France in 2023

Although the restart of some reactors was recently delayed due in particular to corrosion problems, the energy company is maintaining its nuclear production target for next year.

The nuclear production range of 300 to 330 terawatt-hours in France in 2023 still corresponds to EDF commitments, Régis Clément, deputy head of the group’s “nuclear production” division, said on Tuesday during a conference call.

EDF announced late last week extensions of scheduled plant shutdowns to 2023 and scheduled new reactor shutdowns, all likely affected by corrosion issues, as part of a new full preventative replacement strategy for affected pipelines.

EDF’s goal is also to prepare for winter 2023-2024, which explains the recently scheduled work, said Régis Clément.
