Europe has been experiencing the “most devastating” bird flu epidemic ever seen on its soil for more than a year, health authorities said on Tuesday, with around 50 million birds culled on farms infected with the virus.
Between October 2021 and September 2022, 37 European countries were affected by bird flu and nearly 2,500 outbreaks were detected on farms across the continent, according to a report by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), the European Center for the Disease Prevention and Control. (ECDC) and the European Union Reference Laboratory.
