The four union organizations of the SNCF signed this Friday the agreement put on the table by the management on Thursday night and lifted all the strike notices that threatened the New Year weekend, with the proximity of a weekend of Christmas already seriously upset , the SNCF announced on Friday.
This agreement “acts forceful measures for a real recognition of the employer profession”, greeted the public group in a press release, indicating despite everything that “the riots will remain unchanged during this weekend”.
The CGT-Cheminots, Unsa-Ferroviaire -the only union that has already lifted the notification-, SUD-Rail and CFDT-Cheminots have therefore agreed to put an end to the conflict, triggered by a collective of controllers formed on Facebook and who refused any union membership. On BFMTV, a collective member acknowledged “enormous progress.”
The unions validate the “additional measures” of the SNCF
On Thursday night, SNCF management proposed several “additional measures” to defuse the situation that had become explosive within the group, which was under intense pressure from the government to end the strike. Among the promised measures, the creation of a “directorate of captains” to recognize the specificities of the profession and be more attentive to problems that may arise.
The specific bonus for skippers will also increase from 600 to 720 euros. And management has committed to hiring an additional 200 controllers in 2023 on top of the 350 already planned. Finally, the guarantees of career development and salary progression have been approved by management.
“The management is satisfied that it is through social dialogue with the elected representatives of the railway workers that a way out of the conflict is found,” rejoiced SNCF Voyageurs. If the unions have lifted their notice, we will still have to wait for the decision of the informal group of bosses leading the strike.
However, without prior notice, the latter no longer have a legal framework to go on strike.
