It is from this Tuesday that some of the homes that only heat with firewood can benefit from state aid.
The government check of 50 to 200 euros “will affect 70% of homes that are heated mainly with firewood,” or “2.6 million homes, for a total budget of 230 million euros,” according to Bercy.
The platform to request these aids announced this fall by the executive to support households in the face of rising energy prices should be online today.
All you have to do is enter your teledeclarant number and your personal invoice proving a purchase of firewood for a minimum amount of 50 euros (or a certificate for homes with collective heating), specifies the government.
Checks sent in February
Households will be able to apply for this aid until April 30, 2023 and checks will be sent from “mid-February 2023”.
According to the decree published this Friday in the DO, the check will reach 100 or 200 euros for the French whose reference tax income is less than 14,400 euros and 50 or 100 euros for those whose tax income is between 14,400 and 27,500 euros.
The amount of the check depends on the type of fuel used: households that heat with wood pellets are entitled to double the aid provided for those that use logs, sticks or chips.
Given the rise in gas prices, more and more French people are turning to wood heating. Therefore, demand has increased by 30% and prices by 25%.
Today, 7 million French people use it daily, compared to 11 million who use gas for heating.
This boost from the government completes the tariff shield that mainly covered electricity and gas. In the same logic, the government had also established a check dedicated to the 3 million users of heating oil, again for the same amount.
