Airbus and Boeing struggle to meet airline demand

Supply chains are completely clogged. A shortage that weighs on prices and that could last for years.

This will be one of aviation’s main challenges for 2023. As travel resumes, the sector restarts so strongly that aircraft production cannot keep up.

Airbus and Boeing order books keep growing. They are complete until 2029 for single-aisle aircraft. In total, the two aircraft manufacturers currently have 12,700 aircraft orders awaiting delivery.

traffic jams

A traffic jam aggravated by various difficulties. The shortage of electronic components but also the lack of manpower prevent manufacturers from speeding up their production.

Result: Earlier this month, Airbus was forced to abandon its target of 700 passenger jets delivered this year.

This situation affects aircraft rental companies and the companies themselves, with sky-high prices at the other end of the chain.

When leaving France, the ticket price has increased by 26% compared to 2019. A trend that could worsen even more in the coming months with the resumption of business travel and the reopening of China.
