VTC: the minimum price of a race will rise to 7.65 euros without commissions in 2023

The minimum price of a VTC race will increase to 7.65 euros without commission in 2023. The agreement between the platforms and the pilot unions must be signed on January 18.

Uber, Freenow, Heetch: the minimum price of a VTC trip will increase in 2023. According to Le Parisien, the platforms and driver unions have agreed to establish a “minimum fee” of 7.65 euros net per trip on the exchanges of the independent.

Adding the commission that each platform earns, the client will have to pay at least 9 euros to take a VTC according to the newspaper, while the minimum price today ranges between 6 and 10 euros gross.

“The agreement must be signed on January 18,” he told the figaro Yassine Bensaci, Vice President of the French VTC Association (AVF), under the auspices of the Employment Platforms Social Relations Authority (ARPE). This deadline was confirmed by Uber, according to the newspaper.

New insufficient prices for some unions

The VTC Association of France has aimed for a minimum price of 10 euros per race but is delighted with a “good start”. For its part, the Association of Independent Lyonnais Drivers will not sign this agreement, he told Le Figaro, deeming this new price insufficient.

All players will be required to comply with this minimum price of 7.65 euros net. For some platforms, this won’t change much. The race already costs at least 8.50 euros net at Heetch, its general director, Teddy Pellerin, told Le Parisien. The minimum rate would be 10 euros net in Bolt, according to the Association of Independent Lyonnais Drivers.

Uber for its part had announced the rise in the minimum price of the race from 7.20 to 8 euros gross last May. With the new price, the platform will still have to revise its minimum price upwards. For comparison, the most expensive taxi fare is 7.30 euros.

Starting in January, the unions will also address the issue of a minimum hourly rate, so that self-employed drivers get paid when they go to pick up their client.
