A Boeing 747-8i of the German company Lufthansa had to land in an emergency on Monday, December 26. The plane, which was flying from Los Angeles to Frankfurt, was diverted to Chicago after a passenger’s laptop caught fire, airline news site Air Journal reveals.
A “little fire”
The passenger computer allegedly overheated before starting a “small fire” in the cabin. The fire was extinguished before the plane landed in Chicago, less than an hour after takeoff. While the landing went smoothly, two flight attendants had to be picked up after inhaling smoke, according to Air Journal.
No injuries were reported among the passengers, who were transferred to other flights. According to Air Journal, a similar incident took place in Moscow-Domodedovo on Thursday, December 29. A passenger’s portable battery ignited, forcing the Ural Airlines Airbus A32A to cancel its departure to Kaliningrad.
