The pension reform should contribute to financing the care of dependent elderly people. This is what Arnaud Robinet, president of the French Federation of Hospitals (FHF), in an interview with Sunday newspaper.
The FHF, which represents 3,000 public nursing homes for the elderly, will propose an “ideal” bill to take charge of the agency, intended to fuel debates on the subject within the framework of the National Refoundation Council.
He proposes “reviewing the economic model of public nursing homes”, of which 85% “will be in deficit this year”, “indexing income to the evolution of expenses”, explains Arnaud Robinet.
“The population aged 75-84 will increase in 2030”
Recalling that “the population between 75 and 84 years of age will increase between 4 and 6 million between now and 2030”, Arnaud Robinet also proposes the creation of a “housing shield” to “compensate the difference between the income of the resident and the cost of nursing home.” .
To finance these measures, “the pension reform seems the most logical path”, argues Arnaud Robinet.
100,000 additional jobs by 2030
The FHF also advocates for the creation of 100,000 additional positions dedicated to old age by 2030. “The government plans to create 3,000 more positions in 2023, that is not enough. It is a vicious circle: as long as we do not set ourselves a goal of massive job creation, we will not be able to hire because the workload is overwhelming”, judge Arnaud Robinet.
The FHF also calls for the sustainability of the investment aid planned in Ségur de la santé, “that is, 500 million per year”, to modernize the Ehpads, and review their operation so that they become “the core of aid in House”. in a territory”.
