The risk of cuts recedes. Thanks to temperatures well above normal for the season, the power grid situation is improving. The weather, which was milder than expected, helped reduce stress on the nuclear reactors.
In detail, of the 56 reactors in total, 22 are still stopped, including 7 due to modulation (Tricastin 1, Saint-Laurent 1, Cruas 1, Chinon 4, Bugey 4, Chinon 2, Tricastin 4). Clearly, the lower consumption during this period and during the next weekend means that the network does not need all the available reactors. Four reactors have also been restarted as planned in recent days. Only one, that of Dampierre 2, which was due to restart on December 28, was delayed by a few days.
The latter is closed for routine maintenance, such as Dampierre 3, Bugey 5, Gravelines 4 and Blayais 1. The others are closed for routine maintenance and corrosion checks/repairs (Civaux 1 and 2, Chooz 1 and 2, Cattenom 1 and 3, Flamanville 1, Penly 1 and 2, Golfech 1).
Gas stocks are stabilizing
Don’t worry about gas either. Filled at 84.01%, the shares, which had fallen significantly during the cold snap a few weeks ago, are now almost flat.
Finally, with regard to the dams, the situation has also clearly improved since the water levels have exceeded the usual averages with a filling of 68% compared to just over the usual 64%.
