2023: when will the holidays and bridges fall?

In 2023, only two of the eleven annual holidays will fall on a Saturday or Sunday, compared to four in 2022. In total, the French will benefit from two long weekends and six three-day weekends.

2023 is a great year for long weekends. Nine of the eleven holidays fall on weekdays this year. This is especially the case for Labor Day, which will take place on a Monday, as well as May 8 and Christmas, which will offer the possibility of three-day weekends. National Day will fall on Friday, July 14.

In addition to the Ascent on Thursday May 18, the French will also have the opportunity to make the bridge to August 15, a Tuesday. All Saints Day finally falls on Wednesday, November 1. With Easter Monday and Pentecost Monday, there will therefore be a total of two long weekends and six three-day weekends in 2023.

Only New Year’s Day, this Sunday, and November 11, which falls on a Saturday, fall on a weekend this year. By comparison, four holidays had occurred on a Saturday or Sunday in 2022. Each year, a minimum of seven holidays and a maximum of ten days fall on weekdays.
