Were canned Bonduelle vegetables issued to Russian soldiers? The Russian subsidiary of the French company, still present in the country despite the war in Ukraine, is accused of having sent Christmas packages to soldiers. Photos circulating on social media show Bonduelle brand cans accompanied by a message reading “Dear Soldier, Happy New Year! We wish you all the best and a speedy victory.”
“This information is false”
Faced with calls to boycott the brand’s products, the company denied sending packages to Russian soldiers, citing “misleading information” about its activity in Russia. “This information, as well as the statements attributed to the Bonduelle company and its address, are totally false,” the group said in a brief statement posted on its Twitter account on Saturday. The company also confirms that it will continue its activities in Russia.
Three factories in Russia
The Bonduelle group has decided not to leave Russia despite the invasion of Ukraine by the Russian army. The French company has three factories in the country. “We decided to stay because food such as pharmaceuticals or agriculture are sectors that are essential” and “we also serve all the countries of Central Asia” with Russian factories, justified Guillaume Debrosse, general director of the Bonduelle group, last November at BFM Business . .
