The president of the French Banking Federation says that 4% of PGEs have payment difficulties

Among the 4% of loans experiencing payment difficulties, “many are VSEs and SMEs,” said Philippe Brassac on Thursday.

The president of the French Banking Federation (FBF), Philippe Brassac, said on Thursday that 4% of state-guaranteed loans (PGE) were encountering payment difficulties, mainly from small businesses.

Between March 2020 and June 2022, banks granted close to 700,000 PGE for a total amount of more than 143,000 million euros. The objective of this measure was to restore the cash flow of companies, under advantageous financial conditions, to help them face the economic consequences of the health crisis.

45% of the PGE began to be reimbursed in 2021

“Only 2% (of the number of loans granted, editor’s note) give rise to a request for state intervention, through the BIS (Public Investment Bank, editor’s note) in relation to the state guarantee,” according to him.

In case of default by the borrower, the State guarantees banks a repayment of 90% for VSEs, SMEs and ETIs.

As of 2021, 45% of the PGE began to be reimbursed, and a large wave of companies were going to start paying their quotas from the spring of 2022 (more than 200,000 PGE), the Banque de France had indicated national credit mediator. , Federico Visnovsky.
