In 2022, France receives a Rafale, after 4 years of delivery interruption

2022 saw the resumption of Rafale deliveries to France with a standard F3R fighter as part of the so-called “tranche 4” order notified in 2009 for 60 aircraft.

Rafale production for France restarted in 2022 after a 4-year hiatus. In a press release, Dassault Aviation confirms that in 2022 a device destined for the Air and Space Force was delivered to the DGA (General Directorate of Armaments). It is a Rafale according to the F3R standard that is part of the so-called “section 4” order notified in 2009 for 60 aircraft.

The F3R is an “omnirole” aircraft designed for multiple missions: air defense and superiority, deep attack, sea and ground attack, bombing, tactical reconnaissance, intelligence, and nuclear deterrence.

About forty Rafale to deliver

There are now 27 Rafales to be delivered as part of tranche 4. Added to this are 12 Rafales ordered in 2021 by France to offset the 12 aircraft sold to Greece. Notification of a tranche 5 is expected in 2023.

The year 2022 has been a “prosperous” year for the tricolor combat apparatus. 92 aircraft have been ordered for export (80 United Arab Emirates, 6 Greece, 6 Indonesia) against 49 Rafale ordered in 2021, including 37 for export. In terms of production, 13 combat aircraft destined for export left the factories with one more for France.
