United States: Inflation slows to 6.5% in December, its lowest level for 2022

Inflation slowed in December in the United States, as expected, to 6.5% per year, thus reaching its lowest level for 2022.

Inflation slowed as expected in December in the United States, to 6.5% per year, thus reaching its lowest level for 2022, according to the CPI index, to which it refers, published this Thursday by the US Department of Labor. In November, it had been 7.1% in a year.

In one month, prices even fell by 0.1% in December, against a rise of 0.1% in November. This is the first drop seen since May 2020. This price move is in line with analysts’ expectations, according to the MarketWatch consensus.
