It’s D-Day for French motorists eagerly awaiting “the later discount.” After nine months of bonuses at the pumps of various amounts, from 18 to 10 through 30 cents, the Government today opens access to its new device: the fuel bonus, worth 100 euros. As announced several weeks ago, this is a more targeted measure. “The general discount helped to include the French who do not need their car to go to work, the French who have an income that allows them to absorb inflation,” Gabriel Attal recalled during a trip to Nice on Friday.
The Delegate Minister of Public Accounts also indicated that this fuel check corresponded to “a bonus of 10 cents per liter of fuel based on an average of 12,000 kilometers traveled per year on business trips.”

An endowment of one billion euros is planned for this new aid, which is aimed at the 10 million most modest workers who need their vehicle for their work. Previously, two criteria must be met, namely, use a vehicle (car or two wheels) to go to work and have a reference tax income per share less than or equal to 14,700 euros per year. Specifically, a single person must earn less than 1,314 euros net per month, a couple less than 3,285 euros if they have one child and less than 3,941 euros if they have two.
Interested workers may apply until February 28 by going to the tax office where they must enter their tax number, their license plate and then complete an affidavit indicating that they need their car to go to work. As a reminder, the subsidy is paid per individual and not per household, which means that it can be applied for by two members of the same modest couple who need their own vehicle to work. Once the file is processed, the first payments will be made on January 27.
