The aquatic center of Limoges, which had suddenly closed its doors to visitors last week like some thirty swimming pools managed by the Vert Marine company, which invoked the increase in the cost of energy, will reopen on Friday morning, announced this Tuesday the metropolis of Limoges. .
Denouncing a “unilateral and brutal” decision, the community had engaged in a confrontation with the company, which manages 90 swimming pools and ice rinks in total in France, warning it to reopen the pools in 24 hours.
Faced with the opposition of Vert Marine and the failure of the talks, the Limoges metropolis sent this Friday a new letter of proceedings accompanied by “an ultimatum (…) otherwise, the operation would have been placed in suspension of payments” .
“Ten Distressing Days and Sources of Tension”
He also assures that he has remained “open to all discussions, in particular to support his delegate in order to face the inflation of the cost of energy, without assuming the responsibility that corresponds to him for his mismanagement or for his unfounded expenses.” “. “, He warns.
On Monday, the Versailles swimming pool, also managed by Vert Marine, reopened its doors after negotiations that foresee the purchase by the City Council, whose contracts with energy providers are more advantageous, of gas and electricity and its resale at the same price in Green Marine.
The French Swimming Federation (FFN) also ordered last Tuesday the “immediate” reopening of the thirty establishments closed the previous day, managed by the group based near Rouen.
Vert Marine justified these closures by assuring that its energy bill had gone from “15 to 100 million euros”, or “the entire annual turnover of the company”.
Often gas-heated, pools are energy-hungry pieces of equipment and are bearing the brunt of rising prices.
