Electricity: Totalenergies will contribute to containing the VSE bill up to 100 euros per MWh

The Government promised on January 6 to contain the electricity bill of the VSEs on average for 2023 at 280 euros per MWh. Totalenergies will take its share.

TotalEnergies will provide up to a discount of 100 euros per megawatt hour (MWh) to the device planned by Bercy to contain the electricity bill of very small companies (TPE), the energy giant announced on Monday, after a meeting at the Ministry of the economy.

The Government promised on January 6 to contain the electricity bill of the VSEs on average for 2023 at 280 euros per MWh, in order to protect those who do not benefit from the regulated sales rate and who have renewed their contract electricity supply. in the second half of 2022, hit hard by rising prices.

The Electricity and gas branch of TotalEnergies” will contribute to this through a bonus of 100 euros per megawatt hour (MWh) so that the electricity supply contracts signed during the second half of 2022 are reduced to an average annual price of 280 euros in 2023 HT per MWh,” the group said in a press release, “after consultations carried out in recent days by the government.”

22,000 companies affected

This measure will benefit its 22,000 VSE customers (companies with less than 10 employees with an annual turnover of less than 2 million euros).

The group, whose CEO Patrick Pouyanné announced at BFM Business last week that it wanted to expand the system, has also confirmed that it is “answering the call” of its 6,000 SME clients (companies with less than 250 employees with a turnover of less than 50 million euros per year) “who also signed their electricity contract in the second half of 2022”.

Therefore, “it will offer them discounts on their contracts, to reduce them to 280 euros without taxes per MWh during the year”, as for the VSEs.

In addition, the group will offer, to VSEs and SMEs that so wish, “a monthly payment mechanism that allows them to soften their charges and thus facilitate their cash management during the winter,” the same source specified.

Finally, it announces that it is publishing an update of the Horizon electricity rate network for 12 months at this average rate of 280 euros without taxes per MWh for its new VSE and SME customers.

EDF announced for its part that it would not communicate after the meeting organized by Bercy with the energy providers. The ministry also did not plan to communicate immediately.
