The energy tariff shield mechanism will remain fine but in a lighter version in 2023. During a speech, Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne announced that the mechanism would be less generous from next January.
In concrete terms, the rise in gas and electricity prices will be limited to 15% next year. This corresponds on average to an increase in the bill of about 25 euros for households that heat with gas (instead of 200) and 20 euros for those that heat with electricity (instead of 180), said the Prime Minister.
