ITA Airways takeover: Rome signs Lufthansa letter of intent

Direct negotiations may begin. The German company would aim for a stake of around 40%, valued between 180 and 200 million euros, and could reach 100% of the capital in the medium term.

The Italian Ministry of Economy announced on Friday that it had signed the letter of intent submitted by the German airline giant Lufthansa with a view to acquiring a minority stake in ITA Airways.

The signing of this document opens the way “for the opening of private negotiations between the parties,” the ministry said in a press release. “Further details of the ongoing discussions will not be released,” he added.

according to the newspaper Corriere della SeraLufthansa aims for a stake of around 40%, valued between 180 and 200 million euros, and could reach 100% of the capital in the medium term.
