A greater mobilization than that of January 19. and historical. The demonstrations against the pension reform on Tuesday, January 31, brought together at least 1,272 million demonstrators, the Ministry of the Interior announced at the end of the day. The CGT said for its part that more than 2.8 million people hit the pavement on Tuesday.
In many cities, the mobilization has increased considerably compared to January 19. And according to figures given by the public authorities, the actions against the pension reform on Tuesday made this day the most important day of mobilization in the last thirty years.
Indeed, with 1.27 million people in the marches, the unions broke the record of October 12, 2010, when 1.23 million French people took to the streets according to the police, already then against a reform of the pensions. Note that if we rely on the figures presented by the unions, the mobilization on Tuesday is far behind that of 2010 against the Woerth reform (2.8 million against 3.5 million).
New dates on February 7 and 11
At least 87,000 people on the streets in Paris, 45,000 in Lyon, 40,000 in Marseille, 28,000 in Nantes, 23,000 in Rennes, 10,500 in Châteauroux or even 7,500 in Béziers: the mobilization was significant, despite a drop in the number of strikers in most sectors.
The unions intend to take advantage of this large turnout in the processions and hope to see the largest number of people during the next two announced mobilization dates: Tuesday, February 7 and Saturday, February 11.
