The French army wants to equip itself with 800 armored, off-road and air-transportable tankers

The Ministry of the Armed Forces has opened a contest to equip itself with 800 all-terrain tankers between 2025 and 2028 to go to all fronts without being seen.

Air transportable, all terrain and armored. These are not combat vehicles, but tankers capable of resupplying vehicles on the front line. The General Directorate of Armaments has published a tender to replace, from 2025, the old vehicles of the operational energy service (SEO) with 800 new ones.

These new trucks should replace the two models currently in service between 2025 and 2028, the Scania CCP10 put into circulation in 2005 and the Renault CBH 325, which will be gradually withdrawn from 2025. Applications are scheduled for March 6. .

To apply for this call for bids, the conditions are strict both financially and industrially and technologically. Companies must be able to produce at least 150 10 m3 machines per year within the European Union or the European Economic Area and ensure their maintenance in France and overseas territories.

Battle of European Builders

To refuel vehicles in difficult areas, these trucks will need to be off-road and capable of driving on snow-covered roads or paths. Of course, they will also have to be armored with ballistic protection systems and anti-mine protection.

Arquus and his partner Soframe could also join the ranks. During the last edition of Eurosatory, the exhibition dedicated to Army equipment, Arquus presented the Armis range in 4×4, 6×6 and 8×8 versions that seem to meet all the conditions with the addition of a possibility of weapons and above all full compatibility with the Scorpion program. . . The 4×4 and 6×6 versions are even equipped with the same engine as the Griffon and Jaguar, two armored vehicles also produced by Arquus.

The French manufacturer could face other European giants, reports the specialized blog ForcesOperations. In addition to the Swedish Scania, which intends to defend its market, the German Rheinmetall and the Dutch DAF and Iveco could present a file to conquer this market, whose first installment amounts to nearly 200 million euros.
