Bad luck for Go Sport and Gap France. The Go Sport France brand and its parent company Groupe Go Sport, which also owns Gap France, are seeking buyers or investors after recently being placed in receivership. The two entities, which have more than 2,000 employees, are currently owned by the Bordeaux businessman Michel Ohayon.
Potential buyers have until March 10 at 2:00 p.m. to submit their acquisition offers, specifies the acquisition announcement, published on the website of the Association professionnelle d’administrations judiciaires (Aspaj) and quoted by the specialized magazine LSA Console. Groupe Go Sport has 46 main franchise stores, while Go Sport France has 82 integrated stores, 87 franchise stores and one online sales site.
After the bankruptcy of Camaieu
Go Sport France, a 100% subsidiary of Groupe Go Sport, had been placed in receivership in early February, two weeks after its parent company was placed in receivership. The financial state of the group concerned employees and unions, especially after the resounding bankruptcy of the Camaïeu ready-to-wear brand, also owned by Michel Ohayon.
The Bordeaux businessman, specializing in real estate, has bought several brands in recent years through Hermione People and Brands (HPB), the distribution arm of his investment fund Financière immobilière bordelaise (FIB). But the Camaïeu liquidation has put the network, which also includes regional stores Galeries Lafayette, La Grande Récré and Café Legal, in trouble.
