In it, Patrick Pouyanné mentioned the possibility of reinstating discounts on the price of a liter of fuel: “the market has partly anticipated the embargo on the current price. A guest on BFMTV tonight, the director of TotalEnergies in France, Isabelle Patrier, recalled that the company had “supported its 14 million customers in 2022” with support for the pump that represented more than 500 million euros. “You have seen that in 2022 we have not waited until February to be able to support our customers at the pump and those who have benefited from the discount on the gas bill”, she insisted.
“We have not determined a threshold”
Isabelle Patrier confirmed that the oil giant will monitor price developments in the coming weeks and months “to see if and how we can provide pump support to lighten the wallets of the French.” On the other hand, unlike Patrick Pouyanné, she specified that no price threshold had yet been determined with a view to a possible activation of the measure.
Regarding the implementation schedule of this fuel discount, the French director of TotalEnergies highlighted that it will not be immediate, since prices are trending downwards at the moment. In fact, prices for both SP95-E10 and diesel have fallen over the past week, with diesel even falling below gasoline for the first time since June 10.
