You are in the process of merging to change groups, what does that mean?
Osram is a large entity that has been around for many years, and today the group is being spun off from our Digital Systems division, or DS, which will merge with the Inventronics group, which is in the same market as us. They have a more complete range of electronic power supplies for outdoor lighting, which will give us the opportunity to expand our product portfolio.
This merger will also allow us to have a uniform global coverage, since we are present with a great team in Europe, but also in Asia, South America and a bit in North Africa, while Inventronics is present in Asia, throughout the Americas, and It is also growing in Europe.
How can light be part of an energy efficiency approach, especially in the current context of crisis?
Today, when we talk about energy rehabilitation, the French or European population systematically thinks about the insulation of buildings. However, this is not the only possible axis. Thanks to our solutions, it is possible to save energy, through the use of suitable systems. The functionalities of our drivers allow, for example, to lower the luminosity according to the night time slots and guarantee the comfort and safety of the neighbors while reducing consumption.
We can find in our range presence and light detection sensors that allow lighting to be lowered according to the amount of natural light, which reduces light pollution and the electricity bill. They are intelligent systems that report information such as hours of operation, need for maintenance, etc. We also offer a range of connected products, where lights can be managed via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, on smartphones or computers. Thanks to these connected devices we avoid consuming cables and therefore copper.
