In its latest annual report published on Friday, Stellantis specifies the remuneration received by its general director Carlos Tavares during the last year. In 2022, the latter received a total remuneration of 14,923 million euros, a figure 14% lower than that of the previous year, specifies the automotive group. This drop even exceeds 20% based on the remuneration of 19,153 million euros established in Stellantis’ 2021 annual report.
If, despite everything, the company’s results reached a record in 2022, Carlos Tavares did not receive a retention bonus last year (a bonus he had received in 2021, as specified in the 2022 annual report) or an exceptional bonus (1.7 million euro bonus as mentioned in the 2021 annual report). This last bonus followed the marriage of Fiat-Chrysler and PSA Peugeot Citroën, creating Stellantis.
10% fixed, 90% variable
After last year’s controversy over Carlos Tavares’ salary, Stellantis has extensively detailed this year the different components of this remuneration. “The remuneration of the CEO is made up of less than 10% of the fixed salary, while 90% of the variable remuneration is at risk, linked to extremely demanding financial and non-financial objectives, which span several years”, recalls the group in a statement.
To the fixed salary -up to 2 million euros, without much variation compared to 2021- we must add this year in particular 7.4 million euros in variable remuneration and close to 3 million euros paid in performance shares.
